Rojas tweeted: “All my solidarity, dear poet, teacher, a brilliant Cuban, Caribbean, Latin American culture woman, Nancy Morejón. They will go for others behind you.”
The singer-songwriter referred to the recent attack Morejón suffered, which was perpetrated by counterrevolutionary sectors in Europe who promoted a crusade to boycott her participation at the Paris Poetry Market.
Cuban Ambassador to France, Otto Vaillant, expressed his support for the renowned poet, who is also a winner of the 2001 National Literature Prize, after a decision by the Paris event to withdraw her honorary presidency.
Founded in 1983, the Poetry Market brings together writers, publishers, and publications worldwide in the French capital.
Nancy Morejon, 78, was scheduled to speak in the opening ceremony of the event, starting June 7 through 12, and she expected to give lectures about Caribbean poetry. This new attack comes on top of previous ones against the Buena Fe duo in the tour of Spain by reactionary sectors of the emigration, actions that have also been denounced from Cuba.
President Miguel Díaz-Canel and cultural organizations have strongly condemned in Havana the aggressions orchestrated by those counterrevolutionaries present in Europe against the Buena Fe duo and the outstanding essayist and academic.
