According to experts, the strategy is to change the energy distribution matrix by installing 98 units that contribute to the population’s consumption and reduce power consumption, and in case of interruption, they work with the national power grid.
When the connections of these photovoltaic systems are completed, water will be guaranteed to about 70 percent of the rural population, Jorge Lorenzo, director of maintenance and energy at the company, told the Escambray newspaper.
These modern resources that save energy and improve pumping efficiency are installed in places where the existing equipment has technological problems in the municipalities of Yaguajay, Taguasco, Cabaiguan and Sancti Spiritus.
Currently, the program in rural areas reaches some 5,000 people in Juan Francisco and Nela, in Yaguajay, and the community of Dos Rios and part of Guasimal, in Sancti Spiritus.
