Caracas, May 30 (Prensa Latina) The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) described the meeting between Presidents Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Nicolas Maduro as historic, transcendental and a victory, it was reported today in Caracas.

A statement issued by the largest Venezuelan political force indicated that both brotherly peoples are on the right path towards the development and integration of the great homeland.

The note expressed its joy for the “successful outcome” of the official visit to Brasilia by the Bolivarian leader since Sunday and the meeting of both presidents the day before.

It highlighted that this meeting clearly expressed “the full return and with new strength” of bilateral relations between the two nations, after more than eight years in which they were interrupted by the rise of the right-wing in the neighboring country, including the government of Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2023).

The “glorious Venezuelan people”, who resisted all kinds of imperial aggressions for defending their determination to “keep us free and independent”, gives a special value to the meeting between Lula and Maduro.

It meant that both heads of state, with determination and decision, were able to overcome all kinds of affronts to meet again in an embrace for the cause of the full development of our South America, in which they addressed with brotherhood the regional and global challenges of this complex international context.

The PSUV in its message quoted Lula’s words yesterday in which he acknowledged that Venezuela “has been an exceptional partner for Brazil” and that the eight-year estrangement was due to “political contingencies and misunderstandings”.
