The head of Cuban diplomacy noted on Twitter the data provided by the World Meteorological Organization confirming that the ozone layer is on the way to recover.
“This protective shield of the planet is expected to recover the 1980 values by approximately 2066 in the Antarctica, in 2045 in the Arctic and around 2040 in the rest of the world,” the foreign minister explained.
More than three decades after the adoption of the Montreal Protocol, experts consider it to be a very relevant environmental agreement, as it solves one of the greatest threats to humanity.
The union of more than 30 countries allowed the elimination and reduction of the use of substances that depleted the ozone layer, an action that, in addition to guaranteeing the life of future generations, improved the results of the initiatives to face climate change.
