The satellite was successfully put into orbit at 02:30 Moscow time, in what was the first launch from Vostochni this year.
The Kondor-FKA satellite was developed by the NPO Mashinostroyeniya military-industrial corporation, relying on the world’s most advanced technologies in the space field to face Russia’s socioeconomic challenges.
The spacecraft is designed to provide a 24-hour survey of Earth’s continental regions and oceans. The satellite masses 1.5 tons.
The Kondor satellite series consists of Earth observation satellites tasked with on surface mapping, environmental monitoring, and natural resource exploration.
A second satellite of this kind is scheduled to be launched for 2024, and another two will be launched in 2029 and 2030.
