GIEV members, Public Security Secretary Rosa Icela Rodriguez, National Women’s Institute (INMUJERES) President Nadine Gasman, and National Commission for the Prevention and Eradication of Violence against Women (CONAVIM) President Fabiola Alanis met to analyze the results of the work done in April.
INMUJERES President Nadine Gasman warned that teenage pregnancy continues to be a structural problem in Mexico, and the country is working on a strategy among institutions to prevent it.
She said they invested more than 433 million pesos (about 24 million dollars) in more than 150 projects to fight violence against women, including unwanted pregnancy that has reduced the fertility rate among adolescents aged 15 to 19 by nearly 8 percent.
CONAVIM President Fabiola Alanis pointed out that the 1st National Forum on Analysis and Context Units to Address Violence against Women was held in Quintana Roo on May 8 to build a national guide to create and operate these units.
