Matanzas, Cuba, May 26 (Prensa Latina) The rehabilitation of the pipeline that supplies water to the industrial zone and the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTE) in the Cuban western province of Matanzas goes as planned.

Daynier Cedeño, investment director of the Delegation of Hydraulic Resources in Matanzas, noted that the change of approximately three kilometers of pipes with a diameter of 315 millimeters for others that are 630 mm in diameter is one of the main tasks of the project.

By replacing the pipelines, water supply capacity will be increased to achieve more sustainability in the area for both the state sector, basically the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Power Plant and the industrial zone, as well as in the two settlements that exist in the area, Cedeño noted.

He commented that the hydraulic works began on May 8 and are progressing satisfactorily and are expected to be completed by July 26, an arduous task but possible thanks to the support from workers from the Gabriel Valiente Contingent and new economic stakeholders.

The investment director stated that the rehabilitation of the pipeline is a support action that, together with the incorporation of the Campo Bello well, with a capacity of 100 liters per second, will supply water to the region with more pressure and abundance.

The works, worth 40 million pesos, are part of a broad investment program drawn up by the Delegation for this year, which also includes actions in pipelines in the municipalities of Pedro Betancourt and Union de Reyes, and improvements in the network of the people’s councils in the provincial capital, Cedeño explained.
