As the spokesman highlighted this Friday on Telegram, Astana’s plans do not include creating unions with other states or joining existing ones.
The Eurasian Economic Union (UEE), which Kazakhstan is part of, includes among other members Belarus and Russia, which formed the State of the Union in 1999.
Zheldibay pointed out that “it is a unique precedent” and that the Kazakh president, Kasim-Yomart Tokaev, maintains that “integration within the framework of the EEU can and should be implemented exclusively in the economic sphere.”
Going beyond this structure contradicts the objectives and principles of the organization, the spokesman for the Presidency said.
