In a press release issued shortly after the Government confirmed the launch’s success, the president noted that the world’s view of South Korea’s space science and technology would change tremendously after this achievement.
Yoon emphasized that it is the third launch of a homegrown space rocket. It represents a leading step forward compared to the previous operation, as eight payload satellites were successfully put into orbit instead of one dummy satellite.
The president congratulated the South Korean Aerospace Research Institute, noting that only the United States, France, Japan, Russia, China, and India have launched homegrown satellites into orbit using their own rockets.
