During the meeting, the status of the implementation of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement (ADPC) will be assessed, which was signed on December 12, 2016 and began to be implemented provisionally on November 1, 2017.
The Ministry detailed that the ADPC is since then the regulatory framework of relations, establishing the basis for enhancing stable, mutually beneficial and long-term ties, on principles of mutual respect, reciprocity and equality.
Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodriguez, and the EU High Representative, Vice-President of the European Comission, Josep Borrell will chair the Joint Council for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
Ahead of the Council, the Third Joint Committee was held on December 2, 2022. During that encounter, delegations discussed cooperation, trade and investment relations and the impact on them of the US blockade and including Cuba in the unilateral list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
They also exchanged on the process of ratification of the Agreement, and the results of the third cycle of political and sectorial dialogues, which took place during the period 2021-2022.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the EU High Representative will complete an extensive program of activities during his stay in Havana, including meetings with authorities and representatives of various sectors of Cuban society, as well as visits to institutions where the outcomes of cooperation between the country and the European Community can be appreciated and their potentialities identified.
Cuba established diplomatic relations with the European Community on September 29, 1988 and has full diplomatic relations with the 27 EU member states.
