Lavrov will attend meeting of BRICS foreign ministers in South Africa

Moscow, May 24 (Prensa Latina) The Russian foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, will attend the BRICS foreign ministers' meeting in Cape Town on June 1st and 2nd, the spokesperson for the Russian diplomatic department, Maria Zakharova, announced.

The diplomat stated on her Telegram channel that the parties to the event will address current issues on the international agenda, and will exchange points of view on the prospects of the BRICS strategic association, including its institutional development.

Zakharova specified that special attention will be paid to the preparations for the next summit, to take place on August 23rd and 24th, in South Africa.

“There will also be a separate meeting in the context of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the BRICS with the participation of guests responsible for foreign policy from various developing countries,” she concluded.
