At the headquarters of the upper house of Parliament, Larcher acknowledged Latin Americans from various fields, in the context of launching the Weeks of Latin America and the Caribbean on France this year, which will hold its 10th edition until June 10.
Presenting the Senate medal to Diaz, the Senate leader highlighted her trajectory to “make France better known in Cuba and Cuba better known in France.”
Diaz was accompanied by Cuban Ambassador Otto Vaillant, at an event attended by authorities and diplomats.
In statements to Prensa Latina, the member of the Coordinator of Cuban Residents in France expressed gratitude for being recognized, and considered it an encouragement to continue to promote bilateral relations.
Diaz reiterated her commitment to disclosing Cuba’s reality in France, including the consequences for Cubans of the United States economic, commercial and financial blockade for more than 60 years.
She recalled that this US policy also affects, due to its extraterritorial impact, French companies, banks and citizens, as it prevents normal ties between the two countries.
