The government entity also reported 3,215 sheltered people, seven missing, 23 injured and 47 deaths due to weather-related incidents in a general report of the season (from the last week of April to October)

It identified 38 cases at risk with different levels of damage related to homes and public infrastructure, 12 destroyed roads, two buildings, four schools and 286 houses, many of them built of tin, adobe and wood. In view of this period of rainfall and strong winds, authorities shared a series of recommendations, in addition to taking preventive measures.

The Conred also proposed to have a backpack with basic elements at hand: water, food, flashlight, radio, first aid kit and waterproof clothing, among others.

The rains started last month in the boca costa and southwestern regions, then in the central plateau (including Guatemala City) and finally in the department of Peten.
