The exhibition sample, as well as the opening of the event, at 11:00 local time, will take place at the Main Hall of the Casa del Alba cultural institution in Havana, where the 29th edition of the festival proposes concerts, poetry readings and community tours throughout the week, according to organizers.
Several poetic events will also be held in other venues, such as the World Meeting of Poets in Defense of Humanity, Poets in the Face of War, or The Struggle for Peace with the purpose of turning this city into a reference point for the genre, which will take place during the general agenda.
Cuban intellectuals Alex Pausides, editor and poet; Nancy Morejon, poet, playwright and essayist; and Virgilio Lopez Lemus, outstanding researcher and doctor in Philological Sciences will deliver the keynote speeches of the 2023 version of the event, according to the program.
In addition, national and foreign poets will pay tribute to Cuba’s literary figure Fina Garcia Marruz, on the year of her centennial, as well as the 170th anniversary of the birth of Cuba’s National Hero Jose Marti, and the three decades of the Sur Editores collection.
These commemorations will headline the first day of the forum, which previously developed itinerant readings in several provinces in honor of Marti.
