Some pre-candidates who seek the support of political movements to win at the polls have already been named, such as the economist and security expert Jan Topic, proposed by the Social Christian Party, and Fernando Villavicencio, whose candidacy is supported by the ” Movimiento Construye”(Construct Movement).
The “Democracia Sí” party and the “Somos Agua movement” joined forces to support Yaku Pérez, former candidate for the 2021 presidential elections.
The “Revolución Ciudadana” (Citizen Revolution, RC) movement, revealed that it is in a permanent session to define the strategy for its campaign and elect its presidential team, even though they do not rule out alliances.
Analysts consider that the RC, whose leader is former President Rafael Correa (2007-2017), is the political force in the best conditions since its representative quality began to increase since it returned to its strong and marked political strategy of questioning Lasso around a year ago.
For sociologist Agustín Burbano, RC is at the moment the most organized movement, with the best communication display in alternative media.
The CNE stated that the registration of the candidacies will be made online, on August 8th, and the campaign time will only last seven days, when it usually it lasts between 30 and 40 days.
The possible date for the first round of the elections is the coming 20th of August, while a second round should take place on October 15th.
