Diaz-Canel, who is also the president of the National Defense Council, witnessed the exercise carried out at the Manufactured Gas Plant, in the Havana municipality of Marianao, the Presidency of the Republic reported on its Twitter account.

The drill consisted of responding to a gas leak exercise, in which Company forces, the Fire Department, the Police, and other specialists participated. The agile response to a disaster of technological origin was also assessed.

Diaz-Canel congratulated the participants due to the organization and preparedness that they demonstrated during the exercise, which is carried out regularly at the Plant.

He called to continue to improve Cuba’s Civil Defense system, recognized in the world due to its professionalism.

This weekend, the Meteor 2023 People’s Exercise is taking place in Cuba to strengthen national capacities and responses to disaster risks.
