Tokaev arrived in China on Wednesday for a state visit, met with President Xi Jinping and attended a round table on mutual investment, during which he signed 47 major trade agreements, according to the statement.
The amount is comparable to the investment that the Beijing authorities have made in Kazakhstan to date, the dispatch said.
“With an investment of more than 23 billion dollars, China is among the five most important investors for the Kazakh economy,” Tokaev said when meeting with the Chinese counterpart, citing the presence of large companies such as CNPC, CITIC, NFC, Sinopec and Huawei in Kazakhstan.
Tokaev is not the only dignitary from Central Asia who has come on a state visit to China recently, as also did the presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Sadir Zhaparov, Tajikistan, Emomali Rachmon, and Uzbekistan (Shavkat Mirziyóyev).
