Georgian Airways is the second air carrier to receive a permit to fly between Georgia and Russia.
On Monday, Georgian aviation authorities reportedly issued a permit for Russia’s Azimuth Airline to fly between Moscow and Tbilisi, the first of which is scheduled for May 19.
On May 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree waiving the visa requirement for Georgian citizens as of May 15.
By virtue of another decree, Putin canceled a ban on flights by Russian airlines and a sale of tours to Georgia that had been in effect since 2019.
According to Georgian legislation, Russian citizens can visit Georgia visa-free and stay there for up to one year.
