Washington, D.C, Council passes resolution against US blockade

Washington, May 16 (Prensa Latina) Washington, D.C., on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution urging President Joe Biden to lift the hostile and unjust blockade against Cuba and to withdraw Cuba from the list of states sponsoring terrorism.

In this way, the D.C. City Council added joined the over 80 municipal and state legislatures (from Boston to San Francisco) that call for President Biden and Congress to put an end to this unilateral blockade imposed for over 60 years as well as to withdraw Cuba from its illegal list, the text read.

The (PR25-0113) request, submitted by Robert White at the legislative meeting of the Washington, D.C., Council, held Tuesday afternoon, expressed the desire for a rapprochement of bilateral relations between the two nations.

A process that was interrupted under the Donald Trump administration (2017-2021), who applied a policy to stifle Cuba´s economy and that is still unchanged by Joe Biden´s.

Different personalities, including congressmen, have called for a change in Cuba policy, a campaign commitment so far unfulfilled by President Biden.
