According to the governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, during the congress, the possibilities of the presentation of a consensus candidate or the call for primary could be analyzed for simultaneous and mandatory elections.
The meeting will take place in the Ferro micro-stadium, in the capital, and is held after President Alberto Fernández decided not to seek a second term. This gathering is carried out after the Supreme Court of Justice prevented the election of the governors of the provinces of San Juan and Tucumán, where followers of former president Juan Domingo Perón expected to win.
“The question is to unify criteria and address the central problems of Argentina. We will decide the next steps,” Kicillof said when announcing the call to the Congress at a recent press conference.
In response to a question about the possible candidacy of Vice President Cristina Fernández, he reminded that a court ruling weighs on her, which forces Peronism to develop its program in a context marked by the proscription of its main leader. That condition and imposes limitations on democracy, he asserted.
The PJ held its congress on May 13th, during which its leader, Máximo Kirchner, urged a broad mobilization of the militants to achieve victory in the elections.
During his speech, Kirchner advocated building a program that goes beyond the appointment at the polls and in order to obtain a better livelihood for its citizens.
