A team of health specialists of the Antonio Luaces Hospital in Ciego de Avila serve in remote villages in the municipality of Majagua in order to increase villagers´ health conditions, an initiative put into practice by Director Alberto Moronta.
Moronta, who is a deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP), responded to a request made by community residents during his official visits paid to these spots.
Secondary health care has been already provided in different areas including Limones Palmero and Segundo Congreso, where cardiologists, neurologists, internists, pediatricians, orthopedists, ophthalmologists and optometrists treat residents of all ages.
This initiative is beneficial for residents with vulnerable needs, and due to current limitations with transportation, they cannot travel to the provincial capital to solve health problems.
The delegation, led by Dr. Moronta, is also made up of students from the Medical University, nurses, specialists and a team from the provincial center for the promotion and prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
