Cuba in Celac rejects inclusion in the US terrorism list

Ministro-Finanzas
Santiago de Chile, May 15 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Minister of Finance and Prices, Vladimir Regueiro, rejected here today the unjustified inclusion of his country on the US list of alleged sponsors of terrorism, which reinforces the consequences of the blockade.

Speaking at a meeting of finance ministers and vice ministers of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac), Regueiro condemned the economic, commercial and financial siege imposed by the United States against his country for more than 60 years.

In the meeting, held at the headquarters of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Cepal), the minister denounced that the blockade intensified to unprecedented extremes during Covid-19, which causes multiple effects on the genuine aspirations of development of our country.

The Cuban minister thanked the solidarity of the region and the pronouncements of Celac to put an end to these unilateral policies that affect the enjoyment of the human rights of the Cuban people.

Ministers and vice ministers of 14 CELAC countries participated in the meeting where the possibility of designing a common agenda in response to the global economic crisis was discussed.

The head of the Cuban delegation to the meeting referred to the multiple problems that affect the region, aggravated by the consequences of the pandemic.

He explained that the smallest countries are the ones who suffer the worst consequences and urged the adoption of measures to respond to the crisis.

The Celac meeting took place in the context of the 35th Regional Seminar on Fiscal Policy, which will be held here for three days, organized by ECLAC.
