Mahamat wrote on his Twitter account that during the meeting with Phee, who heads the US State Department’s Africa Bureau, she praised the efforts made and reiterated the AU’s stance “on the need for coordinated international actions in support of a Sudanese civilian-led process.”

The Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) signed an agreement in Jeddah on Friday, under the mediation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States, in which they pledged to allow the passage of humanitarian aid and facilitate the civilians’ exodus to safer places.

According to the deal, they will prevent any attack that could harm the population, allow the evacuation of civilians from combat zones, and protect medical personnel and public facilities.

According to updated data from the World Health Organization (WHO), the clashes have already resulted in more than 700 deaths and more than 5,000 wounded.
