The elections in San Juan and Tucuman were also scheduled for this Sunday, but they were suspended by the Supreme Court of Justice which granted two precautionary measures filed by opposition forces.
In spite of strong criticism from the Government and political and social organizations, the Supreme Court interrupted the process in Tucuman for an indefinite date, a decision which was not modified, despite Juan Manzur, from Frente de Todos (Front for All) withdrew his candidacy for deputy governor.
In the case of San Juan, the main authorities will not be elected this day, but deputies, mayors and councilmen will be elected.
Voting is taking place as planned in Tierra del Fuego, where Gustavo Melella, of the Concertación Forja Party, will seek another term as governor with the support of groups such as La Cámpora and the Justicialistas.
Melella is facing Hector Stefani, from Propuesta Republicana and Pablo Blanco, from opposition Juntos por el Cambio (JxC).
In La Pampa, Sergio Ziliotto, from Frente Justicialista; Martín Berhongaray (JxC); Luciano González, from Frente de Izquierda y de Trabajadores-Unidad; and Claudio Alejandro Acosta, from Desde El Pie party, among others, are banging heads on the polls.
The people of Salta are electing their governor from a pack of 12 proposals, among them, those headed by Gustavo Seenz (Alianza Gustavo Gobernador), Miguel Nanni (JxC); Emiliano Estrada (Frente Avancemos), Ramiro Escotorin (Por la Unidad) and Marcos Tognolini (Movimiento Al Socialismo).
