At the opening of the 9th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the organization, the president acknowledged the deep ties that unite the countries of the region and the work done together in various projects and agreements. In this iconic city, Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Giammattei noted that he was confident that the presence of more than 60 delegations will strengthen collaboration in areas of common interest for the benefit of the ACS.
He thanked those present for responding to the invitation to participate in the Summit and for their presence in the various events prepared for all.
With their effort and dedication, we are closing a new cycle of meetings of vital importance to give continuity, in the best possible way, to the Association’s agenda, the host dignitary noted.
He added, “We close the exercise of our presidency of the Council of Ministers with which we hope to fulfill the slogan Innovating integration through the sustainable development of the Greater Caribbean.”
With the agenda before us, we seek to promote a fruitful and frank exchange on the challenges that the ACS is facing in the current context, he remarked.
We also wish to review the steps taken during Guatemala’s presidency, he added.
The important agreements that we will adopt and that will be reflected in the Antigua Guatemala declaration will guide the institutional agenda of our Association, he stressed.
