The Cuban leader noted that both nations “will follow the path of their brotherhood forged by the wisdom of the extraordinary Namibian leader and the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro.”
On Twitter, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez also sent a congratulation message to Nujoma and praised his close relationship with Cuba.
Samuel Daniel Shafiishuna (Sam) Nujoma, born on May 12, 1929, led a three-decade-long sovereignty struggle in Namibia before serving as head of state. He was re-elected in 1994 and 1999.
Nujoma has received a great number of honorary titles as well as national and international recognitions for his important contribution to Namibia´s independence.
