The Cuba-South Africa brotherly relations date back to the 1960s in the heat of the anti-apartheid struggles, and on May 11, 1994, diplomatic relations were formally established.

Both countries are currently rolling out bilateral cooperation agreements in different areas such as health, education, public works, human settlements, infrastructure, science, information technology, among others.
