Cubainformación highlighted Wednesday that the shipment includes contributions from individuals, companies, and institutions as part of the project “Support for Cuba to Face the Effects of the Industrial Fire in Matanzas.”
Fons Català de Cooperació al Desenvolupament (Catalan Development Cooperation Fund), which brings together different municipalities in Catalonia, has the principal role in financing the shipment.
“This container is part of the solidarity campaigns with Cuba to counteract the cruel blockade of the United States (…) tightened with 243 new measures, including Cuba’s unjust inclusion in the list of countries that sponsor terrorism, with enormous economic consequences for this nation,” the digital media wrote.
The shipment will leave the port of Barcelona to Matanzas on May 15.
Other solidarity containers from the Canary Islands and Catalonia recently left for Cuba, with aid destined for Pinar del Rio province and the Havana municipality of San Miguel del Padron.
The Canary Islands-Cuban Solidarity Network and the Catalan NGDO Alkaria offered the news at the time.
