The News/You Gov poll shows that 45 percent of voters surveyed support Biden, who filed for re-election in late April, while 43 percent favor Trump.
In a hypothetical showdown in the presidential election between Biden and DeSantis, 45 percent would vote for the ruler, while 42 percent expressed their support for the governor of Florida, the research reports.
Meanwhile, if the Republican primary race were between Trump and DeSantis, 50 percent would vote for Trump, and only 36 percent would vote for his opponent, according to the poll.
Both Trump and DeSantis have been labeled as the top contenders for the 2024 Republican Party presidential nomination, according to expert opinion.
The former Oval Office occupant, who is facing a series of legal battles and federal investigations against him, announced his third run for president at his Mar-a-Lago estate last November.
DeSantis, who has indicated that any official announcement about 2024 will not come until after his state legislative session ends, said Friday that the decision to launch a presidential bid would come “relatively soon.”
