At least two Palestinians were killed and the same number wounded during Tuesday’s incursion into southern Gaza, according to media reports.
The Palestinian state news agency WAFA reported that the shelling targeted a vehicle in the town of Khan Younis.

Meanwhile, the United Nations (UN) condemned the killing of civilians in the aerial bombardments, described as unacceptable by the UN special coordinator for the Middle East peace process, Tor Wennesland, in a statement.
The senior official declared that he was “deeply alarmed by the events in Gaza after Israel launched a military operation this morning against members of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement” and urged all parties to act with maximum restraint and avoid an escalation. .
The Islamic Jihad movement has warned Tel Aviv that Palestine’s response to this “treacherous and heinous terrorist massacre” will not be delayed, and that fighters from the Al-Quds Brigades, a military branch of the Islamic Jihad movement along with other factions of the Resistance, will respond to those actions.
The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) also accused Israel of being fascist and responsible for the heinous crime and its grave repercussions.
Israel, for its part, reinforced surveillance measures for fear of a possible response from the Palestinian resistance and recommended that the Israelis exercise extreme caution, especially in areas surrounding the Gaza Strip.
