The Ministry of Culture will host the event until May 12, dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the Center for the Research and Development of Cuban Music (CIDMUC), the 20th anniversary of Producciones Colibri record label, and the 10th anniversary of Cuban television “Canal Clave”.
CIDMUC musicologist and director Laura Vilar will open the event, followed by a keynote speech on Music and Decolonization, a tribute to Leonardo Acosta by Dr. María de los Ángeles Córdova, a musicologist and professor at the University of Arts.
Tuesday’s activities include the panel “Producciones Colibri, History of awards received, contribution to rescue Cuban musical heritage” and “The role of musical podcasts in rescuing, preserving and socializing the nation’s sound heritage,” among others.
The first day will conclude with the online workshop “Musical Industry. Notes for a survival manual with musicologist and producer Grettel Garlobo as an advisor.”
For four days, the International Symposium Cubadisco 2023 will stimulate dialogues and exchange knowledge among the participants on core issues within the music industry.
