Sources in the town of Jarubieh, in the northeastern province of Hasakeh, said that a convoy of 33 tanker trucks laden with crude oil left for the north of neighboring Iraq through the illegal border crossing of Al-Mahmoudieh.
The column was guarded by US armored and artillery vehicles from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
According to previous denunciations by the Syrian Oil Ministry, the United States and the SDF steal 66,000 barrels of oil out of a total of 80,000 barrels that the country produces daily, thus forcing Syria to depend on imports to guarantee its hydrocarbon demands.
All more than 12 bases maintained by the Pentagon in Syria are mainly concentrated in the oil-rich region of Al-Jazira.
