“All the necessary measures are being taken to guarantee security, especially with regard to the presence of foreign guests, the presence of our head of state. Whatever the law requires, everything is done for that”, he stressed.
Peskov noted that the nature of Ukraine’s activities requires attention from security authorities and also once again confirms “the correctness of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to launch a special military operation”, he added.
The spokesman confirmed that the leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries will be present as guests at the parade, referring to Armenia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
“This is the solidarity of the heads of state, whose peoples, as part of a single country, participated in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) and won,” he recalled.
Peskov emphasized the special significance of Victory Day for everyone who was involved in the victory over fascism, because “we have no right to forget about May 9, it is a holy day for all states that were once part of the Soviet Union, states that sacrificed so many lives of their citizens to free the world from fascism”, he commented.
