Death of Carlos Lazo’s eldest daughter mourned in the US

Washington, May 8 (Prensa Latina) Many expressions of support and solidarity continue today for activist Carlos Lazo, coordinator of the movement "Puentes de Amor" whose eldest daughter, Jessica Lazo, died in a tragic traffic accident.

“Our daughter was an extraordinary human being. She was the joy of her parents, grandparents, siblings, family and friends. Since she was a little girl she had a great passion for social justice and helping those in needs,” so wrote the Seattle-based Cuban professor when releasing the news on his Facebook profile.

The young woman recently graduated from college and was accepted into the fire department, according to Lazo.

More than 14,000 comments were generated by the publication of the tragedy that occurred on Sunday morning.

“Very heartfelt condolences at this very sad and difficult moment,” Ambassador Lyanis Torres, head of the Cuban Mission in the United States, wrote.

Also accompanying the condolences was, Johana Tablada, deputy director general for the United States of the Cuban Foreign Ministry who expressed her sorrows for this irreparable loss without.

“I embrace you tightly and wish with much affection and solidarity that you find the strength to overcome this deep sadness and move forward with courage and love. She will always be with you and you with her. All with you and the family,” Johana also said.

Bridges of Love movement is one of the most active groups within the United States, in the fight against the blockade imposed by the White House on the island more than 60 years ago, and for the reestablishment and normalization of relations between the two countries.
