The blast occurred at Saturday-Sunday midnight at the Esperanza 1 mine in the town of Yanaquihua.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation, the Ministry of Interior informed. The explosion triggered a fire as the wooden beams caught fire.

The possibility of survivors is ruled out because the explosion generated a dark smoke that surely caused death by asphyxiation to eventual survivors, according to newspaper reports.
