will participate in an academic event in Cuba.
Douhan will deliver a conference and will engage in a dialogue with the assistants during the inauguration of the meeting, organized by the University of Havana.
After her arrival in Havana on May 3rd, she carried out an intense agenda, which included a visit to the Solidarity School with Panama, where children with physical-motor disabilities are taken care of.
According to the Office of the United Nations System in Cuba, the expert´s academic visit will contribute to the exposure of the US blockade as the main violation of the human rights of the Cuban people and the unilateral coercive measure of greater magnitude and extension in time applied in the world.
This will also make it possible to renew cooperation actions with the UN special human rights procedures, so as to promote bilateral collaboration with this and other human rights mechanisms.
Cuba is a part of 44 international mechanisms dealing with this matter, out of 61 internationally in force, and maintains cooperation with human rights instruments applied on universal and non-discriminatory bases.
It also advocates for dialogue and cooperation as the most effective way to defend all human rights for all, without manipulation or politicization.
