Forum in Cuba pays tribute to leading figures in the heritage area

Havana, May 4 (Prensa Latina) The second day of the International Congress on Cultural Heritage reserves for today the most important events of the day, dedicated to two leading figures in the area of heritage conservation in Cuba.

Painter Servando Cabrera (1923-1981) and the geographer and speleologist Antonio Nuñez Jimenez (1923-1998) are also the names of the two figures of this event that, from May 3 to 5, brings together in this capital exhibitors from Mexico, Brazil, El Salvador, Chile, Angola and countries of the Antilles region to discuss the current challenges in this specialty.

The main events of the day will be held in the morning with the Master Conference “Servando Cabrera Moreno Centennial” and the panel “Antonio Núñez Jiménez Centennial Tribute”, both sponsored by the respective institutions that bear their names.

After these activities, the National Museum of Fine Arts, as the congress venue, organized several working sessions in commissions related to underwater archeology, the diversification of tourism through cultural routes or the approach of museums to Salvadoran communities. This last panel is particularly relevant in the context of the pandemic in that Central American nation.

The central theme of the first International Congress on Cultural Heritage in Cuba is a tribute to sculptor and ceramist Marta Arjona in the centennial year of her birth.

This convention is dedicated to this Cuban artist, who dedicated a large part of her life to the preservation and care of heritage assets.
