Al-Assad pointed out that the alliance between the two countries has proven that it has correct and solid foundations based on values, principles, and the peoples’ interests and beliefs in their sovereignty and independence.

Raisi stated, “The Syrian Government and people have faced and overcome big adversities and achieved victory despite challenges, threats, and sanctions imposed on them.”

I sincerely congratulate the Syrian people for these victories, and the whole world praises this country’s resilience, the Iranian president said.

It is Raisi’s first visit to Syria since 2010.

Iran is Syria’s ally and has provided it with military and economic support since the war started in 2011.
