As Prigozhin reported to Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper, the underground weapons depot was conquered by Russian assault teams in the region of Soledar, and whose swift actions prevented Ukrainian nationalists from blowing it up.
The footage filmed by the head of the Wagner group shows that the weapons are stored in boxes, in perfect condition, and most of the them still retain the grease they were originally preserved with.
Prigozhin highlighted that over 272,000 boxes with weapons were counted, most of which contain Thompson submachine guns, unused, and endorsed by various reviews of the Ukrainian Army. There are also thousands of Soviet PPSh-41 and PPS-43 SMGs, Maxim machine guns, as well as Degtyarev light machine guns, all of which maintain their fighting qualities, Prigozhin said.
Russian assault teams earlier showed warehouses storing weapons and ammunition in the liberated salt mines in the village of Paraskovievka near Soledar in the Donetsk People’s Republic, which the Ukrainian army was unable to destroy.
Soledar is a strategic enclave located to the west of Donetsk, which was one of the pillars of the Ukrainian defensive front in Donbas due to the underground labyrinths, which are several kilometers in length, however, the powerful offensives of the Russian forces managed to break the Ukrainian defense and free it.
