Control tests, carried out in one of the laboratories of the European Union (EU), confirmed the presence of pesticides in Ukrainian grain, Vlchan said. This wheat cannot be processed and must be destroyed, the minister added.
According to him, more than 1,500 tons of Ukrainian grain are in one of the commercial storage facilities in the territory of Slovakia.
The authorities ordered new pesticide tests because the owner of the wheat, after receiving the results of a previous test in mid-April last year, claimed that the batch was harmless and suitable for making baked products, but the government introduced a temporary ban on the import, processing and sale of Ukrainian grain.
