Carlos Lazo, leader of the Bridges of Love Movement, told Prensa Latina that the traditional worldwide caravans to demand the normalization of relations between the two nations would occur just on the day dedicated to the working class.
“We invite all people who want to see an end to this criminal blockade against the Cuban people to participate in the May Day activities and take out their posters against this siege for the Cuban family and the end of all punitive measures,” he said.
He added that the caravan’s members from Miami, Florida, would also participate in the parades that will take place in that city, organized by several emigrant associations and unions.
The Bridges of Love Movement coordinates demonstrations on the last Sundays of every month to demand the end of the economic, financial, and commercial blockade imposed on Cuba for more than 60 years by successive US administrations.
They also demand Cuba’s removal from the list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism and the lifting of other coercive measures that prevent travel to the island and hinder its economic transactions.
