The appointment will be held as part of the First International Congress of Cultural Heritage, which will take place from Wednesday and until Friday at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana.
In a previous meeting between representatives of the organization that Cuba currently leads, Vice Minister of Culture Fernando Rojas recalled that heritage constitutes one of the main axes of reflections on culture and this congress is linked to the contributions of the group in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
He stressed that one of the agreements of the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development, held in October in Mexico City, was the need to place culture in an important place on the multilateral agenda of that United Nations Organization and their member countries.
He also pointed out that the next congress will be a platform to show the rebirth of cultural life in the Antillean nation in face-to-face format and from difficult economic conditions, but “with the will to contribute to human improvement and so that artistic activity reaches everyone and all”.
Regarding the Meeting of Ministers of Culture, he pointed out that it will have as fundamental themes culture as a global public good and the social and economic dimension of culture, among other objectives.
Ana Margarita Morejón, director of International Relations of the Cuban Ministry of Culture, indicated that among the results of the meeting, the adoption of a final declaration aims at concrete actions to promote culture and multilateral bonds is expected.
