Ahmed Abu Zeid, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, detailed in a statement that 1,072 Egyptians were taken home on Friday only.
Thousands of Sudanese and citizens from fifty countries also fled to Egypt, according to government figures.
Under the President Abdel Fattah El Sisi´s statements, a “crisis cell” including the Ministries of Defense, Interior and Foreign Affairs, as well as the General Intelligence Service, was established to follow up the process.
Since clashes broke out in Sudan, Egyptian authorities have been promoting an in-depth agenda of contacts with a great number of regional and international actors for a peaceful solution.
Both El Sisi and Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said the conflict is a Sudan´s internal affair, so they called for avoiding any interference in the African nation.
