The diplomat stated on Friday, in an interview for the aif.ru site, that making concessions to Washington “would give it a very powerful excuse for it to drastically increase pressure on Moscow.”
A serious conversation between the two countries will be possible if the United States matures to maintain it, but “strictly on the basis of a balance of interests” and a very careful analysis of what Russia gains from one or another agreement with Washington, Ryabkov stated.
In addition, the Russian deputy foreign minister turned the attention to the dialogue with the US embassy in Moscow, including the ambassador, Linne Tracy, and said that “the talks are very complicated, since there are few common issues to reach some kind of solution, if there is one.”
“Disputes, exchange of blows and mutual accusations are the norm of life nowadays. We face each other both in public and behind closed doors. The situation is difficult, but Tracy knows well where she works, as they say in diplomatic slang,” Ryabkov said.
“The US ambassador has relevant experience. We hope that, it will, at least, help her to evaluate what is happening and warn Washington of the growing risks” the Deputy Minister resumed.
