According to the spokesman, the Moldovan authorities have already eliminated their own language. We see their drift towards absorption by Romania and we see their actions aimed at deliberately curtailing their own sovereignty. The president of Moldova, Maia Sandu, who also has Romanian citizenship, passed a law on March 22 to call the official language Romanian and not Moldovan.
The regulation, which had been approved earlier by 58 of the 101 deputies, came into force two days later.
Sandu seeks the incorporation of Moldova, a country plunged in a serious economic and political crisis, into the European Union (EU) space.
In June 2022, the EU granted Moldova candidate country status and imposed several conditions for its admission.
