From the city of Maroun al-Ras in the south of the country, on the border with the occupied Palestinian territories, the foreign minister assured the region has entered a new stage of collective cooperation.

At the same time, he stressed that Iran will stand with Lebanon even in difficult days and said he received from Hizbullah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah precise assessments and assurances that the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance is “at its best”.

Abdollahian arrived last Wednesday in the Lebanese capital from the Sultanate of Oman and in meetings with local officials praised the ties between Tehran and Beirut.

Here he held talks with the head of the interim government, Najib Mikati; the Speaker of Parliament, Nabih Berri; and his counterpart, Abdullah Bou Habib; in addition to holding a meeting with deputies from different political forces.

He also emphasized the need for unity among the Palestinian factions and people during a meeting with the head of the Islamic Jihad, Ziyad al-Nakhala.

Last January Abdollahian clarified that Tehran does not interfere in the internal affairs of brotherly Lebanon and stands for contacts and dialogues between all political trends.
