The detention of the motor vessel Advantage Sweet took place in the waters of the Gulf of Oman, under allegations of violating international regulations and navigation laws, when the tanker attempted to escape by turning off tracking devices.

The vessel was intercepted by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Navy, since hours earlier the vessel had collided with another Iranian ship in the waters of the Persian Gulf, resulting in several injuries and two missing Persian crew members.

At the request of the Maritime Rescue and Intelligence Center, the Iranian army navy intervened, within the framework of the International Center for Maritime Security in the city of Chabahar, in the south of the country, from where it revealed the location of the tanker and detained it in the Sea of Oman.

The destroyer Binder was in charge of this operation, and forced the tanker, which was in violation of international standards and flying the flag of the Marshall Islands, to head towards Iranian waters.

The Iranian destroyer, with permission from the judicial authority, detained the tanker by airdrop on board.
