Russia warns over grain deal insecurity

rusia-acuerdo-granos
Moscow, Apr 25 (Prensa Latina) Russia has reportedly denounced insecurity to fulfill a grain deal due to Ukraine's drone attacks on the Crimean peninsula.

“We denounce that Kiev authorities are using humanitarian corridors in the Black Sea to cover up their air strikes on the peninsula,” Russian State Duma lawmaker Mikhail Sheremet stated.

The legislator also called for a “radical” review of the terms of Russia’s obligations under the convention following the drone threat over the Black Sea.

“If the Ukrainian side maintains its aggressive intentions towards the peninsula, the grain deal must be terminated,” Sheremet said.

On March 23 and April 24, Ukraine violated guarantees not to use the air corridor, and attacked the Black Sea Fleet bases in Sevastopol, including Crimean civilian infrastructure.

Russia, Türkiye, the United Nations, and Ukraine signed the grain deal on July 22, 2022, which provides for the export of Ukrainian food and fertilizers via the Black Sea.

On March 18, 2023, Moscow extended the deal for 60 days until May 18, and Kiev requested to extend the pact to 120 days.
