Figueiredo arrived in the Bolivarian Republic on Sunday as part of a tour of the seven countries that make up the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO).
The Venezuelan Ministry for Foreign Relations reported that as part of his agenda in Caracas, Figueiredo is expected to formally deliver the invitation extended to President Nicolás Maduro, by his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
The president of the South American giant called to celebrate the IV Summit of ACTO member countries, founded in Brazil on February 25, 1995, and also integrated by Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela.
The organization’s purpose is to promote the harmonious development of the Amazonian territories, so that the joint actions of the seven countries produce equitable and mutually beneficial results in achieving sustainable development in the Amazon region, said the source.
Venezuela and Brazil developed an intense agenda of meetings and exchanges to update the issues of binational cooperation, in order to recover and strengthen the benefits for both peoples, after Lula’s inauguration on January 1.
