In a statement released by that press outlet, members of the Peace and Justice Service, the Espacio por la Memoria Institute and the American Association of Jurists criticized the recent visit to this country by the head of the United States Southern Command, Laura Richardson, and other officials such as Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman.
The document was also signed by members of the Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity, the Argentine Chapter, the League for Human Rights, the Frente Patria Grande and the Central de Trabajadores Autónoma, among others.
We recall that Richardson publicly confessed the importance for Washington of the strategic natural resources of our region, especially the lithium triangle, located in a territory shared by Argentina, Bolivia and Chile, the text indicates.
In addition, she warned about US interest in oil reserves, gold, copper, the Amazon and 31 percent of the global freshwater reserve.
She also indicates that the US offensive seriously threatens Argentina’s economy and security, as well as its relations with Brazil and China.
We are a sovereign country and our autonomy as a people must prioritize its sustainability without subordination, without dependencies of any kind with the domestic policy of the United States, or of any other State, affirms the statement.
Furthermore, she urged against breaking any ties with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
